When’s the last time you slid down a fireman’s pole, followed animal tracks, or milked a cow? Can you imagine what it would be like to be part of a NASCAR pit crew, or on a pirate ship? All of this and more can be experienced at the Children’s Museum And Theater of Maine on Free Street. Your kids will be entertained for hours by the hands-on exhibits that promote exploration and creative play.
One highlight is the room-sized camera obscura, which delights children and adults alike with its projected images of the harbor and streets outside. Or, for the theatrically inclined, try sitting in on one of the many plays and musicals written by and for children.
Travel Tips
Many of the exhibits can get messy, so be sure to bring a change of clothes for the little ones (and maybe even yourself). For more information visit www.kitetails.org.
